This Sunday, Burnley FC Women welcome AFC Fylde Women to Padiham FC in the second round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
Coronavirus restrictions were eased on the 29th March meaning that the team could resume training, with a quick turnaround to prepare for the 4th April fixture.
Burnley FC Women First Team Manager, Matt Bee said: “It will be great to return to competitive football on Sunday especially having not played since November.
“We have worked hard to keep the players sharp and we have to attack the game with an energy and belief. It will be unique circumstances given the lack of preparation time, but my teams have always had an identity defined by relentless work and that is something we will carry into Sunday.”
Katie Thomas added, “I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s game. After being back with the players again this week, I think it has given us lots of positivity to go into Sunday feeling focused and ready to perform.”
The game will be played behind closed doors in line with current government restrictions.
