Burnley FC Women’s Under 16s have successfully reached the 2018/19 Lancashire FA Sprint Print U16 Girls Cup Final.
Due to take place on Thursday 25th April the team will face Blackburn & Darwen Girls, an accomplished side in the league so it will be a tough test for the Clarets.
Team Manager Becky Clough said: “We have been working hard in preparation for the final and the team have shown a high level of commitment in training. As a squad we have bought into the Burnley FC Women DNA and I’ve been trying to mirror what the first team do, to get the girls into the right mindset for the game.”
“I’m so proud of how far the team have come and they should be too. Even though the build up games have only been short the girls have still had to work hard to get to where they are today. They have beaten Walshaw and Lancaster to get to this point and reflecting and comparing their effort and work rate to last season where they only managed to gain one point all season it’s a massive achievement.”
“The team are aware the final is going to be a big test but they are looking forward to the challenge. They are going to enjoy the moment and have fun.”
“With all the hard work the girls have put into getting this far, it would be naive of us to say we weren’t going there to try and win. However, as long as the girls come away from the game knowing they have tried their best and enjoyed the experience, they should be proud of themselves for what they have achieved.”
