Burnley FC Women Reserves Team Overview
The Burnley FC Women Reserve squad is the final step of development before players enter the first team.
The squad demonstrates a balance between experienced players and young players progressing from the Burnley FC Women Under 16s.
The team look to replicate the playing styles of the first team to provide a smooth transition for players progressing into higher leagues.
Reserve team Coach Jack Mival’s overview of the 2017/18 season.
The reserves have endured a long, up and down season with plenty of hurdles along the way especially with fixture issues. However, they overcame all of this to finish a very respectable fourth place in an extremely tight league.
Throughout the season we have seen vast improvements in teamwork and this was shown towards the end of the season with some spectacular football and fantastic results.
This was especially true in a recent fixture against a strong Wigan outfit. Playing most of the game with only ten players, everyone rallied together to show what can be achieved through hard work and team spirit, earning a hard fought 2-1 victory.
We are all looking forward to kicking on next season and continuing to develop!
