Burnley FC Women are back in league action on Sunday as they take on Newcastle United Women at the Ruby Civil Arena, Padiham FC.

After a recent turbulent 5-4 win over Norton & Stockton Ancients the Claret Women are still top of the FA Women’s National League Division 1 North, currently 11 points ahead of nearest rivals Chester le Street Town Ladies and Brighouse Town Ladies.

Burnley FC Women First Team Manager, Matt Bee said: “It’s going to be a tough game this weekend, Newcastle are a very good side, they’ve got some very good individual players and they look to dominate possession. When we went there before Christmas, we had to dig in and defend well and that’s what allowed us to get success.

“On Sunday we’re going to have to make sure that we do exactly the same and that we perform to our best because if we drop our levels even slightly it will be a tough game.”

Kick-off is 2pm on Sunday and the game will take place at Padiham FC’s Ruby Civil Arena, 16 Well Street, Padiham, Burnley, BB12 8LE. Entrance is £2 for adults, free for children.
