Burnley FC Women are back in league action this Sunday as the team travel to the Midlands to face West Bromwich Albion Women.
The trip follows a run of good result for Burnley who began their opening day campaign with a 3-2 win over league favourites Derby County Ladies, followed by a 3-0 away win over Leeds United Women in the FA Women’s National League Cup Determining Round.
Alongside Burnley FC Women, West Bromwich Albion Women are newly promoted into the FA Women’s Northern Premier Division. However the side have faced a difficult start to the new season, losing their opening day fixture to Sunderland Ladies and defeat to Barnsley Women in the first round of the National League Cup last weekend. The side will now go on to defend their title in the National League Plate.
Burnley FC Women First Team Manager Matt Bee however knows football can change quickly;
“There is a positive vibe around the team at the moment following the last two results and confidence is high. That said football can change quickly, and you have to remain grounded and focused in every game every week.
“We face another tough test on Sunday against a West Brom side who like ourselves were champions of their division last year. They have had a tough start so we know they will be at their best in front of a home crowd and on paper we are the ideal game to turn it round against being a fellow newly promoted team.
“We have to approach the game with a focus and operate effectively within our system in order to achieve a positive result.”
Kick-off is 2pm on Sunday and the game will take place at Walsall Wood FC, Lichfield Road, Walsall Wood, Walsall, WS9 9NP.
