Burnley FC Women kick off their new league campaign against Derby County Ladies this Sunday at Padiham FC’s Ruby Civil Arena.

Following back to back promotions and a successful pre-season, Burnley will be playing in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division for the 2019/20 campaign, the third tier in the women’s football pyramid and the highest level the clarets women’s side has competed at in their long history.

Burnley FC Women First Team Manager, Matt Bee said: “The season ahead is an exciting one for the club and the fact that we are competing in this division for the first time ever highlights our rapid rise over the last three seasons. We know that the challenges ahead will be huge but as a group we will face them with focus and a belief.

“Derby County consistently finish near the top of the table and have recruited well over the summer. We know that they will be one of the favourites to win the title so the game will give us a good marker of where we are at against the very best this league has to offer. Support will be crucial this season, so I’d encourage Clarets fans to get behind the team.”

To kick off the start of the season, the FA Women’s National League have teamed up with Kick It Out for the #BigKickOff campaign. Captain’s from both teams will be warming up in Kick It Out t-shirts before the game on Sunday and everybody at Burnley FC Women is proud to support Kick It Out’s mission to tackle racism and discrimination in football.

Kick-off is 2pm on Sunday and the game will take place at Padiham FC’s Ruby Civil Arena, 16 Well Street, Padiham, Burnley, BB12 8LE. Entrance is £3 for adults, £1 for under 16s.
