Burnley FC Women Under 11s player, Scarlett Leary is celebrating after successfully trialling and gaining a place at Blackburn Rovers Tier 1 RTC.
Scarlett has played for the Under 11 Claret team for the past two years and has been a key player in the team’s successes.
RTCs (Regional Talent Clubs) are enhanced coaching centres for the Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age groups, and allow players identified as having elite potential the opportunity to access appropriate levels of coaching and support.
To gain access to the RTC, Scarlett successfully passed a trial utilising all the skills she has developed over the course of her time at Burnley, with her journey further highlighting Burnley FC Women’s commitment to focusing on players individual growth and encouraging progression on the FA Girls’ England Talent Pathway.
With an increased focus on quality of coaching and development, during the 2017/18 season Burnley FC Women improved the club infrastructure with an FA Level 2 Coach working alongside every age group.
Burnley FC Women Under 11s Manager, Darren Sturrock said: “Scarlett has played for me for the past two years and is an absolute pleasure to coach. She is the girl every coach dreams of as she listens and takes everything on board, she has represented the club brilliantly. She plays every minute with a big grin on her face. Thank you for playing for me Scarlett, I will miss you loads!”
Female Football Development Officer, Matt Bee said: “It is great to see Scarlett progress to a Tier 1 RTC. It is exciting for both her and her family and I hope that she continues to develop and thrive in the elite RTC environment.”
“I am proud of the culture we are developing here for both players and coaches. Scarlett’s progression over the past few seasons shows the environment we have created is working and giving players the opportunity to achieve their potential. I would like to wish Scarlett and her family every success in her footballing future!”
